On UFC cards, event-used means the material came from a real event: a piece of the octagon canvas fought on that night. Almost no relic is, and Topps writes the difference on the back of each card:
Event-used: the back of his UFC 308 Topps NOW says the canvas “came specifically from UFC 308”.
Relic with no event: the back of his 2025 Topps Midnight relic autograph warns that the material does not come “from any specific match or event”.
Canvas on a card is not enough: it can be canvas that never hosted a fight. What counts is what the back says.
2024 Topps NOW: the UFC 308 canvas
On 26 October 2024, at UFC 308 in Abu Dhabi, Ilia Topuria knocked out Max Holloway in the third round in his first featherweight title defence. Two days later, on 28 October, Topps opened sales of his card with canvas from that very night, per its official listing:

A sealed pack with one random card from five parallels: Blue /49, Purple /25, Red /10, Orange /5 and Gold /1. At most 90 cards in the world.
The back certifies it: the canvas came “specifically from UFC 308”, the night of his KO.
It is, today, his only event-used card.

2025 Topps Knockout, Fight Mat Relics: it also carries canvas, but the back says it does not come from an event. Checked in hand on the copy; the official checklist assigns it no fight either.
