Ilia Topuria 2024 Topps NOW UFC #27A: the UFC 308 event-used relic in its five colours
Card #27A is the Topps NOW with a piece of the UFC 308 Octagon mat, the night Ilia Topuria knocked out Max Holloway. We have catalogued 5 versions, from the Blue /49 to the Gold 1/1; 5 have a photo of a real copy.
Card #27A is an event-used relic: its mat came from the UFC 308 Octagon, on 26 October 2024 in Abu Dhabi (UFC.com), as its back certifies. Topps sold it as a product separate from #27, under the name “Event-used Mat Relic # to 49 or Lower”, per its official page.
A sealed foil pack with a single card, foil-numbered, at $99.99 and limited to one per cart.
The same window as #27: from 28 October 2024 to 31 October at 04:00 GMT, according to the data on the official page.
Much slower shipping: the page announced 80 to 100 business days, against 7 to 10 for the regular card.
What the front shows and what the back says
Front: the celebration photo from #27, with the belt and the rose, and on the right a window with a piece of grey woven fabric beside the vertical caption “Event-used Relic”. The frame changes colour with the run, from the photos of our copies.
Back: it repeats the #27 text and adds, in italics, that the mat in the card came specifically from UFC 308.
Since each pack held one card at random, if all 90 sold, each purchase had a 54% chance of Blue, 28% of Purple, one in 9 of Red, one in 18 of Orange and one in 90 of the Gold: our estimate, from the runs on the official page and assuming a random split.
What gets confused with #27A
Three names for the same card: Topps titles it “Card 27” and sells it under the reference “0027REL”; we catalogue it as #27A, as it appears in sale listings, and the back of our copy prints “27B”.
Purple, Red, Orange and Gold also exist without mat: they are the parallels of #27. If the card has no window with fabric, it is not #27A.
Not every mat comes from an event: the back decides, which is why this is Ilia Topuria's only card on event-used cards.
