Ilia Topuria 2022 Panini UFC Debut Edition #70: the base card and every parallel
Card #70 is Ilia Topuria's in Panini UFC Debut Edition, Panini's 2022 album-and-packs collection, from his rookie year, and here it is with its colours: we have catalogued 4 versions, the base and the Red, Green and Gold parallels. 3 have a photo of the actual copy.
Ilia Topuria is #70 in Panini UFC Debut Edition, a 160-card collection in which 101 to 140 are Champions and 141 to 160 Legends, per Paninimania (a secondary source): the #70 sits in the fighters' block, ahead of those two.
Front: Ilia Topuria roaring, fists clenched, in front of the Octagon fence, in red shorts bearing his surname; Panini's yellow “P” logo top left, the RC logo top right and his name below. Per the photo of our copy.
Back: “No. 70”, “Alicante, Spain” under the name and a paragraph presenting him as a sharp dresser with thrilling finishes, recalling UFC 264, where he finished Brazilian jiu-jitsu specialist Ryan Hall with ground and pound in the closing moments of the first round: his second straight first-round stoppage. Per the photographed back of our copy.
The back does not say “Debut Edition”: the footer reads “2022 Panini – Panini UFC”.
An album collection, not a Hobby product
Debut Edition is a Panini collection in the sticker-album style: 5-card packs and a starter pack with the album and two packs at €9.95, first released in September 2022, per Paninimania (a secondary source).
It is an album card: collected from packs in the sticker style, like the rest of the collection.
It is not Panini Prizm UFC, the same maker's Hobby line: in the 2022 edition, Panini's second year in the Octagon per Beckett (a secondary source, archived copy), Ilia Topuria is #115.
The #70 ladder
Base, unnumbered.
Red, Green and Gold: also unnumbered, with the colour on the corners of the frame; on our Green, the corners are green.
Scarcity: our catalogue lists the Green as SP and the Gold as SSP, from less to more difficult; we have not found published odds or print runs that put figures on it.
The Gold has no real photo yet: its card page shows an AI recreation, labelled as such.
What gets mixed up
“Alicante, Spain” is not his birthplace: the back of his 2023 Metal Universe Z-Force #Z-31 says he was born in Halle (Westfalen), Germany, on 21 January 1997. Each back gives a different fact.
The back talks about UFC 264, not his two 2022 fights, which his Panini Instant cards tell: #23 and #147.
Is it a rookie? It is from 2022 and carries the RC logo, but the classic definition leaves out album collections; Ilia Topuria rookie cards explains it. His other base cards from that year with a page: Chronicles Rookies #82 and Immaculate #76.
How to read this list
Still without a real photo: 1; with an AI recreation: 1. Confirmed sales recorded for the whole number: 8.
“No photo” means the piece is on the checklist and we have not yet seen a copy.
