Where his career stood
When this collection came out, on 8 July 2022, Ilia Topuria's record was 12-0, 4-0 in the UFC, and he was not yet a champion. He was coming off a win over Jai Herbert by KO at UFC Fight Night: Volkov vs. Aspinall, 111 days earlier. His next fight was UFC 282: Blachowicz vs. Ankalaev, against Bryce Mitchell, 156 days later: he won by submission.
What 2022 Panini Instant UFC Rated Rookie Retro is
A closed set of 36 cards in the 1982 Donruss design with the Rated Rookie logo added, sold only complete on Panini's website at $34.99, with a window from 8 to 25 July 2022 and a final run of 492 sets, per Beckett. Ilia Topuria is #RR16, between Ian Garry and Jack Shore, in alphabetical order of first name.
- A single version: no parallels, and “1 of 492” is the set's run, not a serial.
What gets confused
- It is not Donruss Rated Rookie #215 nor Optic #110: it is an on-demand set, online only and complete only.
- The frame is 1982's, not 1984's or 1986's; the Rated Rookie logo was born in 1984, so it is grafted on.
How to read this page
