Prizm is Panini's flagship chrome brand and its ladder of color parallels is the hobby's common language. The 2022 rookie Prizm is one of Ilia Topuria's reference cards for collectors.
When this collection came out, on 25 March 2022, Ilia Topuria's record was 12-0, 4-0 in the UFC, and he was not yet a champion. He was coming off a win over Jai Herbert by KO at UFC Fight Night: Volkov vs. Aspinall, 6 days earlier. His next fight was UFC 282: Blachowicz vs. Ankalaev, against Bryce Mitchell, 261 days later: he won by submission.
What 2022 Prizm UFC is and why it matters for Ilia Topuria
Prizm is Panini's chromium flagship and the colour ladder the whole hobby understands. The 2022 edition reached hobby on 25 March 2022, per Panini, with a crop of fighters on their first licensed UFC card. Ilia Topuria is one of them: #115 is his rookie card, the first licensed pack card of him that exists. The full explanation is on the Ilia Topuria rookie cards page.
One card, 24 versions. Ilia Topuria has no insert or autograph in this product: everything is a parallel of #115.
16 numbered and 8 unnumbered. Base, Silver, Green, Hyper, Ice, Pink Ice, Ruby Wave and White Sparkle carry no number; the rest run from /299 to 1/1.
Two 1/1s. The hobby Black and the First Off The Line Black Shimmer.
Which box each one comes from
The official sell sheet sets the hobby box at 12 packs of 12 cards, with 2 autographs and 22 Prizms. The rest splits by format:
Hobby: Mojo /25, Gold /10 and Black 1/1 are hobby exclusives.
First Off The Line (17 March, Dutch auction on Panini Direct, per Panini): two extra Prizms per box, Blue Shimmer /7, Gold Shimmer /5 and Black Shimmer 1/1. The sell sheet says “8 or less”, the announcement “7 or less”: two official texts that disagree.
Retail: unnumbered Green and Pink Pulsar /42 in the 24-pack boxes; Green Pulsar /25 in blasters.
Panini Direct: Pink Ice in three-card packs and the White Sparkle, which was never in a box.
What gets confused
Silver is neither numbered nor hobby-exclusive. It is the everyday parallel, the one that sells most, which is why it leads the most-traded list above.
Green and Green Pulsar are two different cards, as are Ice and Pink Ice. The names look alike; the channel and the run do not.
There is no 2021 Prizm Ilia Topuria. Listings that say so are wrong: 2022 #115 is his first Prizm.
