Where his career stood
When this collection came out, on 1 July 2022, Ilia Topuria's record was 12-0, 4-0 in the UFC, and he was not yet a champion. He was coming off a win over Jai Herbert by KO at UFC Fight Night: Volkov vs. Aspinall, 104 days earlier. His next fight was UFC 282: Blachowicz vs. Ankalaev, against Bryce Mitchell, 163 days later: he won by submission.
What 2022 Select UFC is
Select is Panini's tiered chromium: the same fighter appears in several tiers of the base set, each scarcer than the last. The 2022 edition came out on 1 July 2022, per Panini, and is the collection with the most Ilia Topuria cards of his rookie year: 59 versions across three numbers.
- Concourse #23: the entry tier, the most plentiful.
- Octagonside #262: the short hobby tier; its Silver is “the chase” the sell sheet itself announces.
- Mezzanine #320: the tier that exists only in blaster boxes.
Which box each one comes from
The official sell sheet sets the hobby box at 12 packs of 5 cards, with 2 autographs, 1 memorabilia and 12 Prizms, and declares Gold and Black hobby exclusives. The rest splits like this:
- H2, the hybrid box of 4 packs of 6 cards (15 July): the Disco family, from Red Disco /99 to Black Disco 1/1, per its listing.
- Blaster: Flash, Tiger and Elephant and the whole Mezzanine tier, per its listing. The three patterns have their own page among Ilia Topuria's animal prints.
- Zebra: Select's classic short print, in all three tiers and with no exclusive box.
What gets confused
- Three numbers, three rarities. A Concourse Gold /10 and an Octagonside Gold /10 share the printed run, not the price: the tier rules.
- Tie-Dye /25 exists in all three tiers, Mezzanine included; the same colour is not the same card.
- Disco does not come from hobby. If a Disco shows up in a hobby box, it is not from this product.
How to read this page
- 36 numbered cards and 23 unnumbered; 3,103 confirmed sales and 211 active listings seen today.
- The 2022 cards are rookie-year cards: the rookie, by release order, is the Prizm one, as told on the Ilia Topuria rookie cards page.
- Each tier's full ladder is on the 2022 checklist.
